We are currently in the Netherlands, waiting for the arrival of our second baby. We had to stop traveling because of my pelvic instability, but we really really really want to leave again when I’m recovered. Of course, we don’t know for sure when I’ll be recovered, but we sure hope it is somewhere around spring 2017. But what then? We fantasize a lot about where we want to go, so I would like to share our travel with kids wish list for Europe.
Travel wish list for Europe
In September 2015, we left with our caravan to travel Europe. We stayed six months in Spain and Portugal and then went back to the Netherlands because of my pregnancy. Although we have seen quite a bit of Europe in already (holidays in France, Switzerland, and Austria as a kid and teenager for example), there is still so much to discover in Europe!
We also love traveling with our caravan, so when we fantasize of our future travel plans, this almost always includes our caravan. First destination? Let’s start with our travel with kids wish list!
Friends of ours visited Croatia last year and they were amazed by its beauty! They sailed along the coast, visited charming little towns and enjoyed the lovely summer weather. Here are a few reasons why we want to travel through Croatia:
The Krka waterfalls in Croatia
- Istria beaches
- Plitvice lakes
And in between these highlights, I know for sure we’ll discover magnificent places that are not touristy, just as we did in Spain and Portugal.
Sharon from Where’s Sharon has been in Croatia with her kids. She asked Sarah-Jane – an Australian who moved to Croatia – to lists 10 things to do in Croatia with kids. Visit her blog and you can see why we want to go 🙂
When traveling from the Netherlands to Croatia, why not move further south to the beautiful country Greece! I’ve been on the island of Chios when I was a teenager. Chios has every ingredient for a relaxing holiday: sun, beaches, friendly people and a beautiful blue see. Of course, Greece has so much more to offer. Think of the ancient Greek ruins, the history involved, beautiful nature like the Melissani lake and Pindus National Park, and charming little villages with white plastered houses. We want to go NOW!
I found these 25 brilliant pictures of Greece through Pinterest. What’s not to love about it?

Yes, we’ve already been here but we just love this country! And we’ve only seen a small bit of it, so there is much more to discover. For example, we would like to go skiing in the Sierra Nevada, hike through the Pyrenees and visit friends near Logroño. We are also totally in love with Andalucia, so we want to go back and slow travel our way to all of Spain.
White slopes in sunny Spain – skiing in the Sierra Nevada
Skiing in the Sierra Nevada is the perfect combination of snowy white mountains and the Andalucian sun, as you can see on the pictures in this blog post on Spain Holiday.
OK, this might sound very dorky, but we love the tv-show Outlander (season 1). We are very impressed with Scotland’s stunning views and towns so we definitely want to explore Scotland! Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aviemore (Cairngorms National Park), Rannoch More: oh these places spark our imagination so much!
Claire from Avenly Lane Travel collected 28 mind blowing photos of Scotland. Just look at these pictures… Do I need to say more?

My husband and I have been in Switzerland many times. We went skiing and visited relatives living there, but we still haven’t seen enough of this beautiful country!
Lenzerheide in Switzerland
For example, I’ve learned to ski in Lenzerheide in Graubünden. I’ve been there many many times during the winter, but I would love to visit this place in summer or spring. Take a look at the pictures made by Erin of Travel with Bender. It looks amazing right! I’ve been in the bobsled (or Toboggan run) several times and I would love my kids to try this too (when they are a bit older). It is so much fun!
