Review Camping Turiscampo in Portugal
Camping Turiscampo near Lagos, in the Algarve, is a beauty! It is such a wonderful campsite! We first came to this campsite at the end of October. We needed a place to wait a few weeks for our house sit to start. It turned out to be a great choice, and as such, after our house sit and a stay at campsite Serro da Bica (also a beauty!), we returned to campsite Turiscampo to celebrate Christmas and New Year. In total, we stayed approximately 8 weeks at camping Turiscampo.
What’s so great about this campsite? Let me tell you in some keywords: a swimming pool with jacuzzi, beautiful pitches, modern and very clean facilities, a nice restaurant and – last but not least – located in a stunning area with amazing beaches and natural parks.
In this review of camping Turiscampo, I’ll explain to you in more detail why this campsite is such a great place for location independent families traveling with an RV.
Let’s start with the basic, but most important features of the campsite: its pitches, facilities, activities, and – of course! – the WiFi.
Pitches of Camping Turiscampo
Most pitches are 70 to 80 m2, but there are also bigger ones (up to 100 m2). All pitches have electricity (6/10 A). The luxury plots have a water supply and drainage, but of course; you pay more for these spots. Most pitches offer lots of shades, which is a necessity during summer.
We stayed here during low season and there were a few empty pitches next to ours, so we could use one of those for parking our car. Very convenient!
Sanitary facilities
The sanitary facilities are perfect. They renovated them recently, and the result is stunning. They thought of everything! You may be surprised, but most campsites don’t have soap at the sinks, but here they have soap and even stuff to clean the toilet seat. There is hot water for all sinks (yes, this is also not common at the average campsite), there are open sinks, but also private wash-basins and lots of showers with enough room for your clothes and towel to stay dry.
They clean it several times a day, even during low season.
In the facility building, there are also three washing machines, two dryers, two ironing boards, many sinks for washing clothes and several bins for washing the dishes. If you travel with a dog, be amazed, because there is a big dog shower.
Sanitary facilities for children
Most campsites have a baby bath, but Camping Turiscampo has a complete facility room for children. Two cute little toilets, two showers with low shower heads, several sinks at a perfect height for children, and two baby baths.
Having two baths available is perfect when your baby poops in one of them; you can easily lift him to the other clean one – yep we know this from experience 😉
Kids club & other facilities
In high season there is a kids club for children from 5 to 12 years old. The camping organizes lots of activities, such as a sports program and bouncy castles, but also crafts, movies, and a mini disco. The team of employees speaks multiple languages so that children can feel more easily at home.
But there is more: a big swimming pool (with jacuzzi), table tennis, several playgrounds and a multi-sports area. Camping Turiscampo also has a bar and restaurant that provides buffet meals for adults and children. There is also a takeaway menu with pizzas and hamburgers. We tried the pizzas. Although it was not the best pizza ever, it is nice to have the option for times you just don’t want to cook.
There is a small supermarket in which you find the basic stuff. Of course, it is more expensive than the supermarket in town, but when you forgot something essential, it is a great backup. This little shop also has fresh bread in the morning. It is closed during the afternoon, so make sure you buy bread for your lunch on time.
Camping Turiscampo also has several mobile homes and bungalows. My parents stayed in one of the trailers, and they enjoyed its comfort.
The Internet & other facilities
WiFi is available at the campsite for a small fee. During popular hours (between 7 and 9 pm for example) the WiFi was slow, but most of the time it worked fine.

Surroundings
Near campsite Turiscampo are spectacular sightseeing options! Especially for beach and hike lovers, this is the place to be 🙂
Praia da Luz
Nearby the camping, the beach of Luz will give plenty fun! It is a 10-minute drive. You can also go on foot, but you have to walk a steep sloop. With small children and their beach equipment, this will be heavy labor.
Sagres, Lagos, and Salema
You can also go to Sagres (which has a fort you can enter), Lagos (to see the port with all its little and big boats) and Salema (the road past the ocean is lovely and with its steep slopes the journey is already a small adventure). Feeling bold? Just leave the road at a random exit towards the ocean and follow the unpaved track. I bet you find a beautiful little beach for a nice swim or walk.
Alvor, Carvoeiro & Benagil
Also beautiful are Alvor, Carvoeiro, and Benagil. It’s a little drive, but you will find caves, boardwalks, beaches, dunes and stunning views.
Silves
Silves is a lovely small town with a big castle. From the castles merlons, you have a beautiful view of the city and its surroundings.
Fees of Camping Turiscampo
Camping Turiscampo is very luxurious, but the fee during low season is affordable. For a pitch, car and two adults you pay in low season around €25 a night. Children up to the age of 7 are free during low season. If you stay longer than 14 nights, you can benefit from extended stay discounts. For a stay of two weeks you will pay €16 per night and for a month the fee is around €14 per night.
In high season (July, August, and September) prices are much higher. You pay for a pitch, car and two adults approximately €40 per night. Children under 3 are free during high season. For children between 3 and 7, you pay €4 per night.
With the ACSI CampingCard, you will pay €15 per night. You might pay an extra fee for your children, though.
Campsite Turiscampo is open all year.
I did my best to find the accurate prices and facility information, but I cannot guarantee the correctness of it due to any price changes, errors in the camping website or changes on the camping itself. I added info from our experience, which is of course very subjective. Therefore, no right may be derived from the information given digitalnomadwithkids.com.
